Case Study: waste-to-energy plant in Denmark coated with ChromeClad XC
This waste-to-energy plant L90 in Esjberg, Denmark is in operation since 2003. It operates over 8,000 hours per year and burns 185,000 tons of waste from 35 municipalities. This plant is running at high efficiency, over 90 %. The combustion chamber and the first pass of this boiler were protected with Inconel 625 weld overlay during its manufacturing at the OEM factory.
After 8 years in service, the maintenance department of this waste-to-energy plant questioned us about a solution for pitting corrosion on weld overlay surfaces of water walls and ceiling. We applied our ChromeClad XC coating over this old weld overlay cladding in four different areas. After 4 years in service, all four coated areas were exempt from pitting and spalling. 200 m2 were subsequently coated on water walls and ceiling during an 8 days on-site job.
