Continuing its history of industry innovation, Whertec is proud to announce the latest innovation in high performance laser cladding applications, LaserClad Automation. Unlike weld overlay processes, we can achieve dilution rates of as little as 1 to 3 percent. It virtually eliminates distortion and shrinkage in the base material, and has extremely high deposit efficiency rates – 91% and greater.

A numerically-controlled, robotic laser system, LaserClad Automation performs extremely precise, uniform, high-performance claddings that ensure the life and efficiency of waterwalls, tubes and other industrial process equipment.

Thermal Sprays – Thermal sprays and ceramic coatings provide a layer of protection against corrosion and slagging, but they are mechanically bonded to the substrate and can be subject to spalling and other failure over time. LaserClad Automation provides a metallurgical bond with the substrate, virtually eliminating spalling and its related repairs.

Weld Overlay – Weld overlays form a metallurgical bond, so they too, eliminate concerns with spalling. However, the heat created during application result in dilution and distortion properties that don’t work in all applications, particularly highly corrosive environments such as pulp & paper recovery boilers. LaserClad Automation requires much less heat, so it greatly reduces dilution and distortion, meaning you can apply laser welded resilience and reduced outage time to even the most extreme boiler environments.
